About Boyd Martin
Boyd currently personally offers performance contracts for the following bands he performs with:
Boyd is a veteran professional musician of 22 years in the Pacific Northwest, and former L.A. studio musician for 10 years. He published The Portland Live Music Guide from 1988-1992, and was the music editor for The Downtowner and OurTown magazines for 10 years. He has acted as consultant for several former venues (who rarely took his advice), and has written a book entitled, "How To Make Money With Live Music-A Venue Guide," excerpts from which were included in this presentation. Boyd currently performs as a freelance drummer 15-20 nights a month in five bands. He has toured nationally several times and toured Europe twice with the Joanna Connor Band out of Chicago, as well as recorded on her Blind Pig album, "Slide Time" (1998). He is the local drummer for touring R&B legend Terry Evans out of L.A., and is featured on award-winning recordings, such as "Midnight Rain," by Robbie Laws & The Urban All-Stars (1995), and "City Lights," by Charlie Grant & Shade (1999). Boyd conceived and produced his popular "Guitarslinger Tuesdays" for a year at Hopper's Bar in Portland (see http://www.indieavenue.com/guitarslingers). He is the founder of IndieAvenue dot com, and has developed and managed a database on the internet of over 5000 musicians and bands, and 1500 venues, in Oregon and Washington, for over six years on this site. This website attracts over 10,000 unique visitors monthly and features a monthly newsletter. Boyd designed, started and maintained websites for the Cascade Blues Association and the Waterfront Blues Festival for five years.
