What about that sound system?

Many venue owners balk at buying a sound system for their live music. At In2une we believe this is an error. There are good reasons to own your own venue sound system:

  • You control the volume and quality of the sound
  • The sound is consistent and designed for your room
  • It creates good artist relations
All of these reasons pay for themselves over and over again. Your clientele knows what to expect when they come into your venue, and this further establishes you as a bona fide live music venue in the general public mind. If you are requiring bands to load in their own PA's, they control the volume and quality of sound, which leads to inconsistency. The money you saved not buying the PA is now paying for lost intangibles, such as losing to clientele expectations and failed satisfaction, employee stress (the "turn it down!" syndrome), and eroding artist relations (the musicians now must add the distraction of running their own sound instead of concentrating on performing their best music).

Another important reason for installing your own sound system, is that In2une will custom-design the system to sound the best for your particular room. This means equalizing the sound for the particular acoustic characteristics of your live music space. If you depend on the bands to bring in their own PA gear, this whole aspect is lost, often with painful results. In2une pre-sets frequency response curves to ensure feedback elimination, and to get the optimum sound quality and levels, whether the room is full or empty--we'll help you make sure that doesn't happen!

If your venue's capacity is rated over 100 persons, In2une recommends using our sound/light technicians, to ensure the highest quality equipment operation, security and maintenance.

For small venues rated under 100 persons, In2une recommends that your venue manager be a "designated sound person." This person is in charge of turning on the PA, unpacking and setting up the microphones (and putting them away), and is in charge of showing the performers how to operate the onstage mixer. (In2une equalizes and pre-sets the PA when it is installed, which avoids feedback and distortion).

Another resource many music venue operators overlook is the national touring band or musician. At any given moment, hundreds of highly talented and very professional acts are touring the country. Their agents are always looking for good places for their bands to play. These bands and musicians require venues with their own stage, lights and sound systems. By offering national touring acts in your calendar on a regular basis, you are quickly and significantly building credibility in the public eye, and you will get a shot at making "regulars" out of the fans who come in to your place for the first time to see that national act. Most national acts cost more to book, but the advantages promotionally far outweigh the expense. In2une has many contacts within the national touring act business, and highly recommends utilizing this resource.
