Boyd Martin's Resume8152 SW Hall Blvd. #103 Beaverton, OR 97008 503-961-2998 (Cell) 503-526-8893 (Office) boydo@toast.net www.indieavenue.com/resume.html DOB: 9.7.52 EXPERIENCE: ** Published and administered a music magazine for 5 years, The Portland Live Music Guide, a monthly newsprint 32-page advertiser-supported free pickup magazine. It covered over 200 live music venues, schedules for all, and listings of over 350 bands. It had a 5,000 circulation at 300 locations (I did the delivery myself), and approximately 80 regular advertisers. (1987-1992) ** I designed and continue to webmaster a website for Oregon and Washington musicians and venues, listing over 5600 musicians and 1500 venues and festivals in the region. Got the attention of some investors in the dot-com highlife days of 1999--almost landed $10 million in funding for an online talent booking system before the bottom dropped out of the market. (www.indieavenue.com) The site was begun in 1995 from the databases I had developed from the Portland Live Music Guide. ** Designed the first five years of websites for the Waterfront Blues Festival in Portland. This was a sizeable project required constant and timely updates, and diverse communications for the four months prior to the festival, including executive-level communications with the Oregon Food Bank and the festival sponsors. (www.waterfrontbluesfest.com) The years were 1996-2001. ** Was the music writer for a Portland weekly for 10 years, occasionally sitting in as Asst. Editor. (The Downtowner, then Our Town until 2000 when it was absorbed by a Portland newspaper, the Portland Tribune) (1990-2000) ** Accomplished a complete redesign and re-functioning of an online health products company website after they suffered a network-marketing meltdown. The site had to be converted to a retail site with new shopping cart and new product photos and presentations. (www.subtleenergysolutions.com) (2001-present) ** Designed and produced a monthly newsletter in Adobe Pagemaker for a health products company, writing creatively and picking out call-outs from several doctor's conference calls that I also transcribed. (www.energytoolsint.com - the newsletters are here: www.subtleenergysolutions.com/energytools/) (Oct., Nov. 2003) ** Originated, designed, wrote for, and administrated a monthly online newsletter for an alternative health products company. This included promoting for subscribers, maintaining all correspondence, and creating approximately 3,000 words of content in each issue. (www.subtleenergysolutions.com/vibrantliving) (from Aug. 2002) ** Designed and completed a 120-slide PowerPoint presentation for an Albuquerque, NM, dentist (George Keanna, DMD) who was going to speak at a national conference. I condensed approximately 300-pages of notes, organized them into a coherent media presentation under a stiff deadline. (July 2003) ** Provide content for the Waterfront Blues Festival website (2001-present).
